Positive Messages with Keith Haring

Keith Haring is such a wonderful artist to share with students of all ages. In our 4th grade class, we discussed who he was and the positive messages he displayed in his artwork. I taught the students how to draw simple, cartoon like characters similar to Keith Haring's style. I emphasized the use of his "action lines" to represent movement in his images. The final project was for them to choose an issue they wanted to address and to communicate their ideas with a colorful drawing.
